Sandia sponsors solar energy symposium Oct. 15 & 16
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Sandia National Laboratories’ solar research group is hosting a Solar Energy Systems symposium in Albuquerque Oct. 15 and 16.
The symposium offers an opportunity for participants to learn about and discuss technical issues associated with bringing solar technologies to the marketplace. While the main focus of the symposium is photovoltaic systems, discussions will also cover concentrating solar power and solar hot water.
Technical sessions will include discussion of the systems-driven approach of the Department of Energy’s Solar Energy Technologies Program and efforts to improve reliability, increase performance, reduce costs, remove barriers, and stimulate markets.
Speakers represent various solar industry and government organizations.
The symposium takes place at the Sheraton Uptown Hotel in Albuquerque. Registration and other information is available at www.sandia.gov/pv. Registration cost is $200 until Sept. 30 and $250 after that. The fee includes materials and admission to all technical sessions, as well as meals during the symposium.

- The DOE’s systems-driven approach
- Industry and labs perspectives
- Energy surety
- Assessing performance and reliability
- Balance-of-systems issues
- Bringing the solar technologies to markets
