Department of Homeland Security’s Charles McQueary to visit Sandia, Lawrence Livermore national labs in honor of September 11
LIVERMORE, Calif. — Dr. Charles E. McQueary, Under Secretary for Science and Technology for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, will deliver a speech at Sandia National Laboratories’ California site the morning of Friday, September 10, at Sandia’s CRF Auditorium. McQueary’s talk, which comes a day before the third anniversary of the events of 9/11, is expected to touch on the contributions the national laboratories have made to DHS’s achievements in research and technology.
In addition, Dr. McQueary will tour the new Biodefense Knowledge Center (BKC) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The BKC is a national clearinghouse for information on biodefense, performing threat assessments, identifying gaps in research and development and providing reports on outbreaks of infectious diseases. A question-and-answer session with McQueary will take place at approximately 10:30am at LLNL’s BKC.
