Fifth annual Homeland Security Conference to be held in Albuquerque this week

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The fifth annual statewide Homeland Security Conference will be held Oct. 24-26 at the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid North (5151 San Francisco Rd. NE).

The gathering will feature nationally renowned experts talking about preparing for, preventing, and responding to the threat of a terrorist attack. Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) will serve as keynote speaker along with Albuquerque Mayor Martin Chavez, Rio Rancho Mayor Kevin Jackson and Bernalillo County Sheriff Darren White.

Federal, state, local, and tribal personnel responsible for public safety are scheduled to attend the conference. Attendees include many groups involved in law enforcement, emergency response, hospitals, corrections facilities, and military.

Since its start in 2001 more than 2000 public safety personnel from more than 200 agencies in 40 states have taken advantage annual training. A wide array of first responders have attended including law enforcement, military, fire fighters, medical and other emergency response personnel who would be first on the scene of a terrorist attack.
