Sandia receives 'outstanding' rating from NNSA

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Sandia National Laboratories has received an overall “outstanding” rating on its FY08 Performance Evaluation Report from the National Nuclear Security Administration, the highest rating possible.

This is the third consecutive year Sandia has achieved the outstanding rating.

NNSA awarded a one-year “Award Term Incentive” extension to Sandia’s contract, through September 2012, in recognition of the laboratory’s strong performance.

“Sandia continues to demonstrate exceptional leadership across the nuclear weapons complex and to provide high-quality scientific and engineering support of the United States’ national security interests,” the report said.

“This result was only possible through the commitment and hard work of all members of the Sandia workforce,” said Sandia President and Labs Director Tom Hunter in a letter to employees.

DOE/NNSA Sandia Site Office Acting Manager Kimberly Davis said, “The NNSA is pleased overall with Sandia’s performance over the past year and appreciates Sandia’s contributions to the NNSA missions and the nation. The Sandia Site Office is looking forward to working with Sandia to accomplish our fiscal year 2009 objectives.”

Sandia is a multiprogram laboratory operated by Sandia Corporation, a Lockheed Martin company, for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration.
