Sandia employees remain in place after shooting outside Kirtland Air Force Base

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Multiple shootings have occurred at the EMCORE facility outside Kirtland Air Force Base. Certified and trained Sandia emergency personnel are responding to assist the Albuquerque police and fire departments and Kirtland Air Force Base with the emergency. In addition, off-site emergency organizations have been notified.

Sandia employees near the Sandia Science & Technology Park have been advised to remain inside nearby buildings. Employees located further away from the site have been asked to avoid the area.

The Eubank employee and contractor security gates are closed until further notice.

Sandia places the safety of this community, workers and the environment as its highest priority.

Sandia emergency organizations will provide continuous assessments of the situation and maintain communications with DOE and off-site authorities.

Sandia’s Family Assistance Center is set up for parents who have children at the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History. The number is 505-205-5194.
