ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Sandia Science & Technology Park and Applied Technology Associates (ATA) will host Sen. Jeff Bingaman, Rep. Martin Heinrich and Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry on Thursday, Aug. 19, as the company announces a building expansion that has more than doubled the size of its Albuquerque headquarters.
The award-winning Sandia Science & Technology Park (SS&TP) is a 250-acre master-planned research park located next to Sandia National Laboratories, giving the park’s more than 30 tenant firms — including ATA — access to the Labs’ scientists and engineers. Many tenants, like ATA, supply Sandia with goods and services or technological products. Others have licensed and commercialized technologies that originated at the federal laboratory.
Members of the news media are invited to the ceremony and to tour the new facility Thursday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. The tour immediately follows the ceremony. The event will be at Applied Technology Associates, 1300 Britt St. SE, in the SS&TP. Please contact Heather Clark at 844-3511 by noon Wednesday, Aug. 18, if you wish to take the tour.
ATA’s $5 million, 26,000-square-foot expansion will allow the company to increase its manufacturing and custom hardware capability. It includes a new 7,200-square-foot satellite high bay assembly and test facility with laboratories, which will help the company better support Sandia Labs and other organizations.
ATA is a 35-year-old precision measurement, sensing and controls company that offers custom hardware, engineering, integration and test services and facilities to government customers, including Sandia National Laboratories, Kirtland Air Force Base and the Air Force Research Laboratory, as well as aerospace, industrial and international customers.
