ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Sandia National Laboratories will host a visit by U.S. Reps. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., and U.S. Rep. Heather Wilson, R-N.M., on Monday, Nov 28.

A news media demo and briefing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Sandia.

Hoekstra, in Albuquerque to see first-hand several technologies developed at the national labs and by local technology companies that could soon play a role in U.S. military and counterterrorism activities, is chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Wilson also serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

During their all-day visit to Sandia, Hoekstra and Wilson will be briefed on several technologies developed by New Mexico institutions to protect and enhance national security. Although many of these technologies cannot be discussed publicly, the media briefing at 2:30 p.m. will include a robot demonstration.

A robot demonstration and media briefing featuring Hoekstra and Wilson and officials of Sandia and three local defense technology companies will be held at Sandia’s Robotics Building Monday, Nov. 28, beginning at 2:30 p.m. News media wishing to cover the event MUST ARRIVE at Sandia’s International Programs Building parking lot (south on Eubank Blvd. to Research Road, east on Research 1⁄4-mile to the IPB parking lot) by 2 p.m. Monday for entry to Kirtland Air Force Base.
