ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —Sandia National Laboratories is hosting a free public forum on nonproliferation Monday, July 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the University of New Mexico Continuing Education Conference Center, North Building, Room C.
Sandia representatives Gloria Chavez, George T. Baldwin, and Nancy Jackson will present information on the background and future of nonproliferation. Lectures on nuclear instrumentation, radiation, and reducing the threat of weapons of mass destruction proliferation and terrorism also will be given.
Gloria Chavez has experience in radiation measurements, environmental monitoring, health and safety, nuclear facilities, security assessments, and nuclear quality assurance. She currently supports Department of State WMD commercialization efforts and manages the NNSA nonproliferation portfolio for Sandia.
George T. Baldwin is a member of the technical staff in Sandia’s International Security Programs Center. His principal expertise is in radiation detection, nuclear instrumentation and measurements applied to reactors, particle accelerators, and inertial fusion machines.
Nancy Jackson is deputy director of Sandia’s International Security Center. Her responsibilities include supporting the director and the Center in fulfilling its mission to create technology-based solutions through international cooperation to reduce the threat of weapons of mass destruction proliferation and terrorism.
